Wenflon BD wyposażony został w igłę o ostrzu typu back-cut oraz w końcówkę kaniuli o kształcie stożka, taka budowa umożliwia łatwiejsze wkłucie i minimalizuje ryzyko uszkodzenia żyły. Skrzydełka kaniuli są w pozycji uniemożliwiającej bezpośredni kontakt nasadki ze skórą, co zmniejsza ryzyko zanieczyszczenia mikrobiologicznego. Skrzydełka można okleić dedykowanymi plastrami (okleinami) pod wenflon, w ten sposób wenflon zostaje unieruchomiony i może bezpiecznie pozostawać w świetle żyły.
